Hi, I have registered classes both on the webtrack and the google online cluster. But the ones that I would like to take are the online clusters’. However, only the webtrack classes (which I don’t want to take) are on my student billing statements. Do I need to worry about it?
Jason Opdyke
40:17
@sue siru an We will be switching you to your cluster courses.
Aishwarya Kulkarni
40:32
s it possible for international transfer students to join the online cluster?
Rahul Sampat
40:48
@Sue - Thanks for that question. The online cluster classes are being added in to the schedule shortly. We wanted students to fill out the form so that we are able to track what classes the students want.
Sultan Tadros
40:54
The online courses do they have a student capacity (a limited number of students) as I am still waiting about one course that my advisor has not gotten back to me in the past few weeks?
Sultan Tadros
41:02
The local embassy has been pushing my visa date if this continues to happen will the ISSS be able to help me expedite my visa process?
sue siru an
41:11
Got it thank u
elaine
41:39
Hi, I am a transfer student, I haven’t got any email that said I can change my courses to online. Anyone know what shouldI do...?
Rahul Sampat
41:40
@Aishwarya - at this point, the online clusters are core classes that are designed for first year students. Transfer students are likely best to take the classes offered via webtrack
Aishwarya Kulkarni
42:01
Alright, thanks a lot
jack yu
42:27
hi I am not sure if I have class andd
Rahul Sampat
42:45
@elaine - if you go back to your web track registration, you should be able to see the modality of your classes that you have registered for. Please note that the hybrid/in person classes are in the process of being changed due to President Fitzgerald’s recent announcement
Eileen Fung
42:54
@Elaine—you are not able to change your classes, please contact your webtrack advisor or your department chair.
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
43:19
@Sultan/Yazan - we can write a letter to help you get an expedited visa appointment. However, if the consulate is still closed they probably will not be able to accommodate this until the begin to reopen
Chandvi Vedak
44:26
I will be taking online classes this fall but my bill still mentions housing, meal plans etc, how can I opt out of it? will I be getting a new bill?
Eileen Fung
44:27
@Jack—you can also contact your department chair to see if you can add another class. If you signed up for a cluster, you will get the new classes possibly next week. We can help you look into another class if it’s appropriate for you.
jack yu
45:02
Sorry I mean if I have a trouble with my schedule with the time of my class, what can I do and who should I contact
Eileen Fung
46:33
@Jack—if you’re a first year student, you can check in with your webtrack advisor to help you. If you don’t know who is your advisor, please contact your admission contact and they can find out for you.
Torry Bruce - Student Housing (he/him/his)
46:44
@chandvi - We will be canceling all housing and dining plans today and tomorrow. Once we do that it will generate a credit to your student account to cancel out the original charges. You should see that come through sometime next week.
jack yu
47:14
thanks
Daniel Zhong
47:25
Hi,if I already talk to my AEM Professor and Professor told me he will help me to register the online classes do I still need to worry about it?
sue siru an
47:34
And I’d like to ask about my scholarship. There should be $15,000per year; however, it was not shown on my billing statement.
Prarthana Patel
48:14
I’m planning to do online classes for fall semester, can you help me to cancel my housing application?
Chandvi Vedak
48:17
I've registered for the online cluster too but I don't wish to take those classes, I want to take the webtrack classes only now that they are available online, how do I opt out of the online cluster?
Dereck Valentine
48:17
Hi, I am a first year student and I am from Costa Rica. I am in the USF soccer team and I have some problems with the date of my VISA interview, it is posible that you give me a letter to ask for an emergency interview here in the Embassy?
Eileen Fung
48:18
@Daniel—No. As an AEM student, you’re all set. We will take care of signing up all classes for you. Welcome
Yazan Tadros
48:47
Is there a student cap or limit for the online classes?
Ta Chindasook
49:08
Hi, I still haven’t heard back from SHaRE regarding the storage of my personal belongings in the student residence halls.
Sandy Rubuye
49:14
Hello! I am an international student living in the Congo. I was planning to come to travel to San Francisco as soon as the US consulte would open here in Congo but with all the emails and information I have received, I am quit confused.
sue siru an
49:20
Also I have received an email suggesting that I need to take SAT test though it was marked optional when I applied the USF. Is that so? And due to the virus, many places are not providing the SAT, may I get more information about this?
Eileen Fung
49:23
@Chandvi—I will make a note. However, please let the international admission contact them as well. Thanks
Chandvi Vedak
49:36
okay thanks
jack yu
50:51

Prarthana Patel
51:45

Eileen Fung
52:23
@Jack—Yes. Professors will use Zoom as the platform.
Eileen Chen
52:53
@Prarthana Patel Yes, your housing will be cancelled. No worries
jack yu
53:33

maple zhu
53:47

Anson Tan

So if we’ve not made any changes to our classes since we first selected it, how do we change to online classes/clusters?
sue siru an
54:36
I need to cancel the hosing as well, could u please help me with it? or do I need to do it myself?
Eileen Fung
54:44
@Prathana—We encourage you to take the online clusters as they are specially designed for first year. However, if they are not appropriate for your time zone, or prefer to choose your courses, you may also stay with the courses you chose during webtrack.
Torry Bruce - Student Housing (he/him/his)
55:03
@sue siru an - we will cancel your housing and dining for you. You do not need to do anything at this time.
Rahul Sampat
55:09
@Anson and others asking about online clusters vs. web track classes and class sizes - we will address this in the Q&A section in about 30 mins - thanks for your patience!
Anastasia Vrachnos
55:18
@maple zhu you can use your current I-20 for a visa appointment in august or early September. We will send you a new I-20 on/around September 4
Jason Opdyke
55:33
@sue siru an. Test optional students need to submit their SAT scores if they took the SAT. If you didn't take it, please send me an email. Opdyke@usfca.edu
Prarthana Patel
57:01
if i prefer to choose online cluster , will it affect my main courses which i chosen?
jack yu
57:07

maple zhu
57:11

Dereck Valentine
57:54
The tuberculosis vaccine is a requirement for international student, in my country we received it when I was a child. Do I need it again?
Eileen Fung
58:10
@Prathana—your online clusters will include classes that meet the requirement for your writing, Core and major. They will be your “main” courses for fall.
jack yu
59:03
where can we check the address?
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:00:10
the address verification will be in MyUSF when you login. There will be a pop-up to verify your address in the next day or two.
sue siru an
01:00:27
I’d like to ask about my scholarship. There should be $15,000per year; however, it was not shown on my billing statement.
Anastasia Vrachnos
01:00:39
@jack you when you next log in the myusf system you will be prompted to update your address.
Chandvi Vedak
01:01:40
I won't be on campus this fall but I've already been assigned housing, will I have to apply for housing again when I come next semester?
Torry Bruce - Student Housing (he/him/his)
01:04:25
@chandvi - yes, we will cancel your assignment and you will need to reapply for spring.
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:05:47
@maple zhu - if we adjust your I-20 to Spring 2021 then you can enter on 30 days before the next term.
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:07:58
@Maple Zhu - why don't you email me your question so we can discuss you specific case mjdeproto@usfca.edu
Anson Tan
01:11:36
If we still go to the US in fall, and someone falls ill, what kind of support will the school offer?
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:12:18
@Dereck - in the US we do not do the vaccine, we do a skin test. If you have had the vaccine then you will have to provide this information. Usually students provide proof of the chest xray. Please contact hps@usfca.edu for more details
Elaine Li
01:12:55
I already have F1 Visa, if I taking online class in China. will it be canceled? if I have a new I-20, will my old I-20 from my last school automatically be invalid?
Anson Tan
01:13:41
For online classes, if we are in the Martin Baro Scholar program, will we be assigned the same core courses?
Anastasia Vrachnos
01:13:48
@Sandy Rubuye Please continue to check the embassy website and get an appointment as soon as it opens. The travel considerations are confusing and complex. If you want to email us about your question please email Marcella and me at avrachnos@usfca.edu and mjdeproto@usfca.edu and we can discuss your specific case and clarify anything you are confused about
Dereck Valentine
01:14:29
Okay, thank you!
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:16:23
@Elaine Li -If your visa is still valid (not expired) it will remain valid. You will just need a new I-20 from USF before you return. The SEVIS ID number will stay the same.
Bryan Wallander
01:17:08
@Sue, please send an email with you id# to FinancialAid@usfca.edu and that department will be able to review your aid package regarding the missing scholarship.

Irene Abbruciati
01:18:13
As for insurance, the USF insurance will conver covid case?
Eileen Chen
01:19:30
Yes, it’s recorded @Yazan Tadros
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:20:23
@Irene Abbruciati - the USF student health insurance is a good plan and covers most expenses. You can read more about the what the plan covers here - https://myusf.usfca.edu/hps/insurance/student-plan
Irene Abbruciati
01:21:00

Anson Tan
01:21:58

01:23:22
if I am not taking classes on campus, do I still need health insurance?
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:24:11

01:27:51
if we go to us next spring we still need to have a health insurance?
Anastasia Vrachnos
01:28:45
@jack you you will need health insurance starting the day you enter the USA. USF insurance will be offered on a prorated basis if you will not be entering until the spring term
Anson Tan
01:30:01
So there is no physical classes at all in Fall even if we are in the US?
Rebecca Zhang
01:30:54
@Anson Tan - USF will be remote this fall.
Anson Tan
01:31:01
Thank you
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:31:59
@ Anson, as Rahul is explaining, CA has stricter requirements than other states and local authorities are recommending only remote classes currently.
Ta Chindasook
01:35:42
Will there be a fine for those who do not follow the pledge?
Ta Chindasook
01:36:00
Or those who do not follow the health policies/rules?
Lester Deanes- AVP Student Engagement
01:37:16
@Ta the campus conduct office is developing a policy related enforcement. We will begin conversation about this is a community commitment vs. a fine.
Lester Deanes- AVP Student Engagement
01:38:05
All policies will be enforced if needed by dean of students office
Anastasia Vrachnos
01:40:27
@ta In addition to what Lester said, I am working on a committee with our current students to discuss measures we can take, working with our students, to support a culture of prevention and compliance. The pledge and the code of conduct is important but so are students working together with the administration to ensure everyone understands the appropriate behaviors that take care of themselves and of the community.
Sophia Wu
01:41:44
USF shall be closed down after Thanksgiving or only during X'mas holiday?
Anson Tan
01:42:24
So if I already have a visa appointment in late July, I can just go ahead and get the visa first and then plan to come in Spring? But I need to get a letter from USF for that visa appointment? Or do I have to reschedule my visa appointment?
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:44:15
@Anson Tan - You can use your current I-20 for this visa interview with the information for the Fall 2020 semester. After the visa interview if you still plan to wait to come to the US until the Spring 2021 we will update your I-20 to January
Jason Opdyke
01:44:17
Please make sure that your official ACT or SAT scores have been sent to USF if you took either exam. If you didn't take them, please verify by sending an email to Opdyke@usfca.edu
Sophia Wu
01:47:04
Meanwhile US does not allow people from Schengen Countries to enter. No appointment is offered for visa interviews. I-20 expires anywayn
Sophia Wu
01:47:37
International students can still register with USF even without visa?
Prarthana Patel
01:48:24
i haven’t yet applied for VISA due to covid-19 , soo according to you when should i start my VISA process?
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:48:35
@Sophia Wu - Yes, you can still take classes from outside of the US and get your visa when you can and arrive for the Spring
Anson Tan
01:48:39
If the restrictions are lifted midway fall, will there be any office hours on campus to meet with professors?
Dereck Valentine
01:49:08
So what is the date where students can enter into the respective halls?
Marcella Pitcher DeProto
01:50:11
@Prarthana Patel -You should make your visa appointment for as soon as possible. You will get your new I-20 in September if you haven't arrived in the US and can use this to apply for your visa before the Spring.
sue siru an
01:50:22
