At what point do you put up trellises for peas and beans and tomatoes and such? Do you install it while putting transplants or seeds in the ground or only once they need it? I don't know how much they'd disturb the roots.

I have pole beans that were started too early and I transplanted them to the garden last week. They're about a foot tall. What is the best way to protect them from frost this week? Last night I covered each with a 5 gallon bucket.

Have to be a little careful with wood ash. I used too much and it raised my pH too much. Just have to balance it with other additives.
